Logitech Webcam Software For Mac
The largest manufacturer of - and arguably the best webcams made - are from Logitech. In years past, they had a very spotty history of commiting to support Apple web camera compatibility whole-heartedly, but they've gotten much better as Apple's market-share and dominance has increased.A few years back they released Logitech web camera software Mac OSX Yosemite, Mavericks, Leopard. It was technically not 'Driver' software: OSX handles that with the system-level support for UVC compatible cameras. It's more a webcam capture application Macintosh users can install to perform HD still image and video clip capture control. It gives more usability out of some of the legacy UVC compliant Logitech HD webcam models for which they specifically offer OSX support.

Logitech C270 HD Webcam
Newer webcam models that aren't currently mentioned on Logitech's support page (like the C525, C920 and other HD cameras) DO NOT work with this capture application. The app is hard-coded to detect only specific camera models. All cameras mentioned and linked above are USB Video Class webcams and the driver itself is part of OSX for basic functionality.
Logitech's OSX web camera control software features still image capture and video recording in Standard and High-Definition Widescreen modes at various VGA and HD resolutions - in compressed or optionally uncompressed format for iMovie imports. Sharing captured clips and snapshots to FaceBook, YouTube and Twitter is also supported. You can download the latest build of the Logitech Webcam Software For Mac OSX 10.5+ via this link.
Why you want it: Many older OSX video chat and capture programs can't or have a hard time taking full advantage of HD 720 and 1080 resolutions. Most are designed for 3:4 aspect-ratios and standard-definition snapshots or video at 320x240 or 640x480 VGA resolution. Logitech's Mac webcam software handles capturing clips at the 16:9 wide aspect ratio and HD modes far more intelligently. What it doesn't do: It lacks image adjustment controls - leaving all focus, color, brightness and white balance to Logitech's built-in camera hardware.

Drivers For Old Macs - Obsolete Web Cameras
MacCam Open Source Webcam Drivers
For those old Macs stuck in time running very early versions of OSX with long discontinued and obsolete USB 1.1 webcams, MacCam helped many cameras with MacOS compatibility. It was quite a challenge for Mac webcam drivers to recognize all the different manufacturers, image sensor hardware and vendor/product ID codes - and just as much of a challenge to document Macintosh compatibility with over 400 different models from dozens of manufacturers.IOExpert Drivers For Older Macs
In the early days prior to the UVC - USB Video Class device standard, IOEXperts helped select models of web cameras function under OSX and OS9. Before UVC compliance took hold, a wide variety of USB 1.1 speed cameras with varying webcam chipsets and sensors made it difficult to support Macintosh. But IO Experts stepped in and tried to support as many cameras as they could.
Did you know you can use your iPhone as a Webcam for your Windows desktop PC or laptop? Well, with a specialized app installed, you can easily do that.
In this article, I will cover some of the best options available that I’ve already used and had good experiences. You can use them to connect with your computer wirelessly or via a USB cable. Without further ado, let’s dive right in!
1. EpocCam
Install and use this app and you will understand why it’s the most popular webcam app for iOS devices. EpocCam is simple to use and works seamlessly with all webcam-enabled software such as Skype, Facebook, Google Hangouts.
You can use either your iPhone’rear – or front-facing cameras. They both deliver much better image quality than what you can get from an average built-in webcam.
Apps For Mac Webcam Free
Setting up the connection between your iPhone and computer is fairly easy as it’s fully automated. You just need two things:
- Install EpocCam app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Download and Install the EpocCam drivers for your PC from the developer’s website. If you use macOS, simply download the EpocCam Viewer app from the Mac App Store. All the download links are shown at the website above.
After you install the drivers, it’s recommended that you should reboot the computer to ensure the drivers work properly.
If you want to stream video wirelessly to a computer, both your computer and iPhone/iPad must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. iOS devices also can be connected by using a USB connection. In this case, make sure iTunes is installed on your computer so that your device can be recognized and connected correctly.
Now open the EpocCam app on your iPhone/iPad and it should automatically connect to your computer. To test EpocCam drivers on your PC, simply open the application named EpocCam Viewer, it’s the software that accompanies the drivers. If the connection works fine, you will see video stream to your computer via EpocCam Viewer.
EpocCam also provides a paid version with more features. The $6 upgrade allows you to stream video with resolution up to 1920 x 1080 pixels; introduces microphone, manual focus and flashlight; removes the watermark on top of video and advertisements.
If you encounter issues using EpocCam, you can check the guides in the Troubleshooting section from the developer’s website.
2. WebCamera
WebCamera is a paid app but it only costs $4.99. Compared to the paid version of EpocCam, WebCamera is cheaper and delivers better image quality. Similar to EpocCam, WebCamera uses your local Wi-Fi network to connect with the computer and stream video to it. The app doesn’t support USB connection.
Like EpocCam, you will need to install the app for your iOS device, then the driver for the computer. Download links can be found on the developer’s website. The iOS app can be installed on iOS 5.1 or later. That means you can make use of your old iPhone and turn it into a quality webcam.
WebCamera works with virtually all the messaging or video calling applications, just like a regular USB webcam. You can also use it in some video production software such as Camtasia or CamTwist.
You are allowed to capture video in three different resolutions: 192×144, 480×360, and 640х480. Higher resolutions like HD or Full HD are not supported at this time.
3. iVCam Webcam
iVCam Webcam is a new free webcam app that has gained lots of positive ratings. It only works with Windows PC.
iVCam Webcam can connect to your computer wirelessly if both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, or via USB. After installing the iVCam Webcam app on your iOS device, go to the developer’s website and download the client software for your PC. Install it and you’re ready to go!
Like other webcam apps, iVCam will transform your iPhone into a standard webcam that can be used in most webcam applications. However, what make this app the most versatile is the PC client software.
If you have multiple iPhones, you can connect and view all of the cameras on the client software at the same time. The interface is simple yet sophisticated with many useful features. You can preview video (with audio or not), take snapshots, record videos and save files directly to your PC.
Other main features of the app include:
- Support various video sizes: 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p.
- Configure video frame rate, video & audio quality.
- Landscape & Portrait mode.
- Real-time switching for front camera & rear camera.
- Manual/Auto focus, flip/mirror video, flashlight.
- use iPhone’s microphone as a wireless microphone for PC.
4. AtHome Camera
Apps For Mac Webcam Computer
AtHome Camera is the one that differs from the rest as it does not mimic a webcam in the traditional sense. Using this app, you can remotely view your iPhone’s camera feed on your computer. And the iPhone also can view your computer’s webcam feed.
Once connected to the iPhone app using a QR code, you can access the iPhone’s camera anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection. You can also talk to the connected device and hear the audio from it.
Apps For Mac Webcam Windows 10
Some of its features includes motion detection: send you a notification if it detect a movement of objects on your camera; and schedule recording: you can choose to monitor your camera at certain times of the day. These features really turn your iPhone into a great baby/pet monitor.
